Instead of a hat, a piece of un-sewn, un-tailored cloth is used in poor cultures to keep the head warm. Instead of a shirt which requires cutting and sewing, a towel. Instead of a skirt or pants, a sheet. These are markers of poor people and when used my a lot of people become markers of poor cultures. They cannot cut or sew cloth because they lack the knowledge, skill and tools. They are common in most cultures and an embarassment in Europe and America.
