In so many anguish filled, pitiable articles from people who had their guns removed by government comes the realization that guns are not evil but governments are – or can be. Guns are not the last protection for Liberty but the American 2nd Amendment is pretty close to perfect and it may be the last protection.
Stanislav Mishin writing from Russia says: “For those of us fighting for our traditional rights, the U.S. 2nd Amendment is a rare light in an ever darkening room.” Mishin says “the authorities know they have nothing to fear from an unarmed population”. Taking the guns is the first wish of bureaucrats who want to protect their powers.
Freedom needs protection from government because only government has the power to thwart freedom. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constiuttion lists some of the freedoms. The Second Amendment protects the means to protect Liberty and all of the freedoms and Rights they include. Arms does not mean guns but the Amendment has been watered down to include only guns. Even weapons have been enlisted to weaken the protection of Liberty. Assault weapons ane not needed to hunt but the Second Amendment doesn’t mention hunting. Assault weapons itself is a misnomer. All guns fit the catagory in additions to fists and hammers. It is impossible to ban fists and hammers so why do the gun-grabbers work only to ban guns? Because guns are easy to collect. The 2nd Amendment forbids such collections but prohibition is trumped by the power of government. The argument turns back to how can Liberty be protected from the powers of govenrment which is the purpose of the 2nd Amendment. A free culture cannot exist without the protection of each citizen whoch also returns to the means of protection, arms. Weapons, Assault rifles, Guns. They all go together.
