Here’s Michelle: “As we moved in, white folks moved out because they were afraid of what our families represented … I want to remind white folks that y’all were running from us … This family, with all the values that you read about, you were running from us. And you’re still running.”

Michelle moved into Kalorama, a not-black neighborhood in Washington DC and she bought a house on white Martha’s Vinyard. Michelle refused to return to the black neighborhood in which she grew up in Chicago. She bought a home in Chicago’s “Better Section”.

Michelle followed the white people who had fled from the black neighborhoods. Michelle never mentioned why. Why did she move out of the black neighborhood where she grew up? Why do white people and others move out of black neighborhoods?
