With 97 % of the vote counted at 12:20AM two Democrats and one Republican will be running Bucks County. Republican Commissioner Robert Loughery is gone. All of the Republican judges are retained with judge Alan Rubenstein getting more of the votes than anyone else. The really big deal is the remaining four row offices going from Republican control to Democrat. That means Democrats now have total, full clear and absolute control of Bucks County.
Blame Trump? Well something got the Democrats in power in Bucks. Perhaps fewer Republican’s came out but the Republican judges were all retained so the results are a bit puzzling. Lots of ticket splitting as both Republicans and Democrat voters jumped over to support people from the other party. Some of the cause was independent voters as well.
Some Republican victories but two Democrat Commissioners and four more Democrats in the row offices mean Democrats will be in full and complete charge of Bucks County’s government. With a budget of almost half a billion, the Democrats will gain control of a lot of jobs and a lot of money. Can we expect more of the politics of Philly to invade Bucks? Certainly, .. as sure as rice is white.
