The Malizia II had special sails made to advertise the crossing. It was built in 2015 out of an extremely expensive carbon-fibre composite material meant to reduce weight and withstand extreme weather. It required three (3) tons (6,600 pounds) of carbon fibre, moulds for hull and deck, a number of construction materials and various resins (baked in large ovens at 120° during the construction process). The vessel is powered by expensive solar panels that require exotic, expensive materials to change sunlight into electricity which she is against using, and by an exotic underwater turbine. The trip was announced without recognition of the hyperbole, as a carbon-neutral transatlantic crossing serving as a demonstration of Thunberg’s declared beliefs of the importance of reducing emissions. The exotic yacht has an electric motor for use in emergencies.Yeah… really…. Just manufacturing the yacht she sailed on instead of swimming violated all of her so-called climate principles. The exotic yacht cost more than she and her entire family will earn in their lifetimes. It was built for a millionaire because only millionaires can afford things like carbon-fibre racing yachts. Greta ate a variety of energy using freeze-dried and vacuum-packed vegan meals on the boat, which can be prepared in all weather conditions with minimum effort and minimum use of energy. Freezing requres more energy than canning and heating her meals by electricity used even more energy that she is against.
