Sports became political when some teams decided not to visit the Trump White House. That’s too bad for sportsmanship where losers and winners come together after a game and shake hands. Sportsmanship is an aspiration or ethos that a sport or activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one’s competitors. A “sore loser” refers to one who does not take defeat well. A “bad winner” doesn’t respect others in winning and whining. Colin Kaepernick and the NFL Kneelers violate sportsmanship and act like sore losers even when they win and when they act like bad winners and crybabies. Pete Buttigieg mischaracterized the reaction to Kaepernick’s protests. Few said Kaepernick had no right to protest against the country. What most opposed was his assumption that he had a right to impose his protests on football fans who paid to watch a football game. Protest on your own property and on your own time. Stop imposing your protesting self on others.
