It’s been a bit over a year ago that Jake passed away. A few months later Lori, Marie O’Neill passed away too. It’s been a tough year. Both seem to be so near that it takes a moment to realize they’re gone. It was expected as both of them were in Hospice but it seemed to come unexpectedly. A few days before we were talking with them and then they were gone.. . .  But not really because there is memory. Memory keeps them nearby in our lives, in our heads, really, but there are photographs of moments along the way of their lives that keep them in mind. A good thing because the photographs bring them into our thoughts again and again.

Both were younger than me. Jake was almost 20 years younger and Lori 5 years younger. Both had marvelous lives. Both had close family. Lori never married so she spent her time and her love on her nieces and nephews. Jake had three children. who grew into marvelous adults with friends and families of their own. Jake got along with and really enjoyed the younger generation. His wife, Terree has the largest number of friends on the planet and all knew and loved Jake too.

We miss them. It’s not any easier. They come to mind in many ways and we miss them. That’s just the way it works. It’s the way it is. We miss them..
