It’s too bad about the mess of a lot of the world into which you have been born. There is too much irrationality, too much hate, too much noise, too many hyphenated Americans, too little integrity, too much trash that passes for entertainment, too many Socialists and too little patriotism. America elected a patriot for president in 2018 so things look much better but too many people still don’t get it. Perhaps your generation can get things on the right track.
You are destined to be loved, fed well, own more clothes than you can ever wear and reside in a loving home with two highly educated extremely intelligent parents. You will also have access to a great-grandfather who will be an easy mark for a few bucks whenever you need them – no questions asked. We should all be so fortunate.
You have been born into a family that has learned that if you do your job well, achieve success, maintain your integrity, your honesty, earned enough money to take care of yourself and your family and pay attention to the world then all would be well. That is the way life works.
If I could hope for one trait for you, it would be reason. The world and the people in it are real and will respond to a person who is independent, has integrity and honesty, believes in and works for Justice, is productive and knows himself. All that will develop a pride in yourself and your achievements. If you don’t like the way the world works, try and make it better.
Having been born a few days ago, all you want to do is eat and sleep and eat some more, but we are deliriously happy to have you here. When you arrived, your mom – my granddaughter said you were “the most perfect baby ever born.” After seeing you, she was right.
Thank you for coming, and thank you for reminding us that there really is a season for everything. A time to think, a time to work and a time to dance. Today, we dance.
