How about a sort of historical editorial about all of the dictators, presidents for life and other despotic rulers who oppose gun control and why?
Could large groups of civilians armed with (mostly) hunting guns, improvised weapons and pistols fend off professionally trained military forces like the Wehrmacht or SS, or the Maoist PLA? No, of course not and that’s not how the Resistance in Europe operated. Instead they engaged in fighting the brutal and efficient Third Reich, not in head-on military engagements, which would be suicide. The aim of an insurgency was to create confusion, get attention which wasted the War Machines resources and to create simple chaos among Hitler’s goose-stepping goons by assassination, bombings, shootings, arson attacks, etc. It worked in various unsung, unknown and deliberately ignored ways and it would work that way if a despot ever showed up in power in America. That’s very, very unlikely because even Japan refused to invade the American homeland because they knew so many people were armed but they could not easily or quickly eliminate the guns of the private citizens. That’s what helps protect America and keep us safe in addition to the police and military that can’t be everywhere.
Is it really true that London’s murder rate from knives, bats and bottles is now higher than New York’s?
Yes, but only if you look at the last two months. Really?? REALLY?? Come on. If guns are so awful how does a large city like London where guns are treated like bubonic plague have more murders than New York City where people can get guns?
Fact is in New York City there are almost no guns, especially almost no private citizens carrying pistols except for Rosie O’Donnell’s armed bodyguards.
New York is a Left-wing, progressive, individual and freedom hating culture. You think banning guns is going to make some psychotic killer just say, “Welp, I can’t buy a gun. Guess I’ll go on with my life then.”
Why is America and Americans so fascinated with guns? Why the “come and take them” attitude”? Partly because as Winston Churchill reminded us: “It’s better to perish than to live as slaves.”
