It’s crazy to pay a $10 an hour worker more than $10 an hour. Better to make them Part-Time and hire two at a lower rate and fire them if they can’t do the job.
$15 an hour workers will search until they find a $15 an hour job and employers will only hire $15 an hour people if they need $15 an hour people.
A Law of Economics is: “When the supply of capable workers dries up the jobs disappear.” In Seattle when the city forced employers of pay people $15 an hour the number of jobs decreased.
MINIMUM WAGE INFLATES THE CURRENCY
When a hamburger business pays a worker 40 cents to make a $1 hamburger is forced to pay the worker 50 cents the price of a hamburger increases to $1.12 which covers the additional 10 cents for the worker and another 2 cents to restore the profit so the higher wage increases the retail price of a burger 12 additional cents and the customer is forced to pay $1.12 for a $1 burger.
The amount of money a customer must pay to keep the employer’s profit percent the same increases so the employer who paid 40 cents is forced to pay 50 cents and the burger that cost $1 now costs $1.12 so the cost of the dollar increased to $1.12 and no one in better off.
It’s as if the old dollar is now worth 88 cents so the entire new wage increase is nothing but a fake increase because everything else goes up and no one gets any more of anything. It’s just a new set of numbers because nothing changed.
All of that takes time so for a brief moment it seems like the worker got more money but now they have to pay more for everything so minimum wage is just a way to make some people feel good because they think they get more money but it’s nothing but an illusion.
Want some proof?
The price of a house decades ago was lower than it is today but it’s the same house. It’s the money that is worth less. That’s INFLATION and that’s what happens when empolyers are forced to artificially increase wages by government interferring with the markets.
The change in the value of the money takes a while to ripple through the economy but the price of everything has increased but nothing different was made That’s inflation. .
