But she’s wrong. There is no more us in America. The states are United, the people are separated; Balkanized; curated into several main groups but notably Trump Haters vs. Trumpers.
Canada has Quebec. Spain has the Basques; Israel has Jerusalem and America has Trump haters. It’s worse than ever in America, worse than when slavery separated America into the Civil War which killed more Americans that WWII. Japan had Hiroshima and Nagasaki, America has California and Massachusetts. America has the Left which is the Progressives, the Democrats, the Socialists, the Liberals. America has the Right which is the Republicans, the Tea parties, the religious Right, and the Rush Limbaugh people as well as the Trumpers.
Noonan says we need to lower the temperature but adds it’s going to get worse meaning the devisions will be sharper and our personal arguments will bring us close to Civil War. Of course that will end but it won’t end well because it will cause many more catastrophes as the right gets angrier because of the missed opportunities with Obama and because there are more people with insufficient abilities to know or predict where this should stop or where it’s going.

Hate follows the inverse of intelligence and intelligence ia not just two points, smart and dumb. Intelligence is a continuum, a sequence of higher or lower abilities depending on which direction you study.
The Left Half of the Bell Curve is not as smart as the Right Half. In fact all of the dumber people are on the left and the differences between those with 90 IQ’s are vastly different that those with those of 110 and that range covers most of the people.
It’s not like the difference between Howdy Doody and Einstein which would include just about everybody but Einstein is so far from Doody that Noonan is correct. theres no compatibility anymore.
The geniuses in a culture cannot hold the average people together once the hate hits a threshold hate and that threshold happened when Donald Trump took the oath of the presidency. The demonstrations and the rioting began at that point. It’s getting worse. The fires are burning higher. America lost it’s United nature. the mobs are in control of more and more and it’s not going stop and it’s not going to get better before it gets worse. the hate is too high. The fires are too hot and the fire-fighters are overwhelmed just as they were in the recent tragic London apartment tower fire. America is dead for now. The pent up rage over the worst American president is fighting the best. The best may not win but that’s the way to bet.
Political Correctness makes it impossible to talk about race. So does Progressivism an Black Lives Matter where a criminal, Travon Martin is given a posthumous degree in aeronautical science that would be silly if her was there to accept. Kathy Griffin will probably be invited to give the commencement address at an Ivy League university next June. This is worse than the Woody Allen Soon Yi story that left us shocked that he rejected the lovely Mia Farrow for Soon. That’s like America rejecting Trump for something far worse than Howdy Doody’s peanut gallery. .
