The press must be free but there are two problems with the press and neither one is related to freedom.

First, some of the press are ideologues who want to advance their agenda. Pushing a hidden agenda is fraud and it’s called lying.

Second, some of the press are just not smart enough to figure out the truth so they publish wrong things.

Either way or both ways amount to misleading people. Having a free press simply means the press can print whatever they want. That’s OK so far as freedom of the press is concerned but it doesn’t get the truth into the hands of the people.

But there are two more elements that work against the truth.

Third, some people will not believe things that contradict their agenda.

Fourth, some people aren’t smart enough to know when the press is lying or misleading them.

If the press only wrote thru things that the press could be trusted but that’s not the way the world works. It’s wrong to trust the press just because it’s free.

According to a new Gallup poll, trust in mass media in the United States is lower than it has ever been since the organization started asking that question in 1972.
Why would trust in the media be so low? Because the media gets things wrong too much otf the time.

Truth is important, …. and in the mainstream media it’s rare.
