A small group of people, many who do not live in Northampton Township want more bicycle trails. Their plans are to construct bicycle paths across Holland Road and Bustleton Avenue. These are heavily used roads which are dangerous to walk across let alone for children riding their bicycles to cross. A trail across these roads will make it more dangerous for all motorists to drive in the township. Innocent children thinking their bicycle path is safe will zip in front of cars. No sane person would promote that.
The bicyclists want Northampton township residents to pick up the cost to repair or replace the railroad bridge over the Neshaminy Creek which is the dividing line between Newtown and Northampton township. That will cost multiple millions and the bicyclists don’t have or don’t want to pay for their bike trail over the Neshaminy. See more HERE.
Rails to Trails is a well-heeled national corporation. Their annual income is in excess of $Nine Million Dollars but they are against paying for the trails they demand in Northampton Township. They sure don’t want to pay for the bridge over the Neshaminy.
