A “Death Surge” of pregnant women: Paul Krugman writes: “Something terrible has happened to pregnant women in Texas: their mortality rate has doubled in recent years, and is now comparable to rates in places like Russia or Ukraine. Although researchers into this disaster are careful to say that it can’t be attributed to any one cause, the death surge coincides with the state’s defunding of Planned Parenthood, which led to the closing of over 80 clinics.

From Wiki: In the United States, the maternal death rate averaged 9.1 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births during the years 1979–1986, but then rose rapidly to 14 per 100,000 in 2000 and 17.8 per 100,000 in 2009. In 2013 the rate was 18.5 deaths per 100,000 live births, with some 800 maternal deaths reported.

Abortion is where Morality and Government join or separate.  Politics provides the matches for the explosions. There are absolutists who want abortion banned. Other absolutists want abortion almost to or right up to birth. Many are in the middle between those extremes.

In addition to the doubling of the death rate of pregnant women there is the movement away from religion. The overall decline in religious people. The decline in Roman Catholics makes the point.  The Pontiff dares not mention the official abortion ban because it turns people away from Catholicism and from religion itself.

Predatory Priests is another problem. District attorneys have written long lists of facts and charges against priests who took depraved sexual advantage of young boys and girls, mostly little boys. In one of the most disgusting cases Boston Cardinal Law fled America and is living inside the Vatican to avoid extradition for his crimes of moving predator priests around as the law closed in on them and him for sexual abuse of young children.

Don’t be fooled when religionists change the subject from abortion so they don’t have to justify their secret war against women.

Just as one train can hide another, one issue can hide another.

The Vatican 2 reformers changed Catholic teaching changed from moral accountability and personal damnation to love and forgiveness. Congregations were encouraged to believe that God would forgive everything/ The Catholic church is driving more people away from it and it is getting smaller as Francis turns Catholicism into a pop version of Protestantism.

The Catholic Church has now effectively joined the camp of the leftist social progressives, all the more so since the start of the pontificate of Francis. Its alliance with the prevailing culture, now more open than ever, has accelerated its already rapid decline and its eventual journey into deeper irrelevance.

The increasing irrelevance of religion in people lives is shown by the Pew Research Center that showed religious “nones”, a category that includes atheists, agnostics, and the “nothing in particular” group, make up 23 per cent of US adults, up from 16 per cent in 2007.

Add in Muslim inspired Terrorism and the advances of science from disproving Creationism to supporting evolution and the movement away from religion is getting to be a more perfect storm driving more people away from religion.
