It distracts from reality. It’s a dis-connect for the mind to get into a mode of non-thought, that is the divorcing of thought from reality. Praying is one form of the psychic state of mindlessness where the objective is not to think. Instead by the recitation of incantations over and over again which really make it impossible to think. The individual mind cannot follow two trains of thought. When a person is praying their mind is literally shut down and in its place is a kind of surreal hum. It’s No-Think for real. It’s a psychological tool, sort of but it’s a tool that cannot work because it is a tool that’s trying to contradict reality. It isn’t the opposite of Doublethink as George Orwell wrote in 1984 where two opposite thoughts are held simultaneously which is literally impossible because the mind cannot hold two thoughts at the same time. Doublethink is actually switch think where the mind switches between one thought and another which is sort of simultaneously considering two opposing thoughts. No Think is the state of mind where thought is shut down. Prayer does that although one can jump out of the pray mode into reality and back with purposeful effort. Remember: when you are praying you are not thinking because thought is impossible when you aren’t thinking. Praying does that and it works because without conscious effort the mind cannot work. Well, you say. What about dreaming? Here’s the answer to that. Dreaming requires brainwork to conjure up images and sounds. No Think requires brainwork to be shut down. Prayer doesn’t shut down the brain. It occupies it so nothing else can be thought about. No Think is not dreaming. Dreaming requires the brain to be working and sleep without brainwork is deeper sleep than dreaming. No one can pray and do something else. It’s either pray or thinks. There’s no third choice.
