You were a witness to history and you made history. On a personal note, Jesse was younger than me. I never suspected that. He was such an important person that he seemed older. He was with Martin on April 3rd the day before and on April 4th, 1968, actually on the balcony where Martin was so tragically shot and killed.
Jesse and Martin did such important work that helped everyone understand why America is where Martin and Jesse had to work. Even though America is the greatest country in the history of the earth, there remains much work to do to provide equality for all which means equality in and under the many laws that govern our behavior.
Wait.. Wait a moment. Wait just one moment!… There are criminals… and bad people who may not break the law but they break the moral contract. One of the worst moral sins is the murder of an innocent. An even greater moral break is the murder of someone important, more important than an ordinary person.. who is important enough but Martin Luther King was extraordinary and so was Jesse Jackson who was right beside him when Martin was so cruelly murdered. Perhaps you disagree. Perhaps you do not like black people. Even so you are in the best place for you because you have the freedom to like and dislike whomsoever you please. You are certaily free to dislike blacks. You are free to hate black people just do long as you respect the laws that allow your hate and their existence.. So… Here we give a fervent thank you Jesse. We knew you and we will miss you. You made America better. Thank you.
