Whoops!! Caught the pole on the gate with her right arm…Her bindings didn’t release and down she went and somehow her left leg was fractured. No further information is available as to the damage to her left leg.

Her left leg was broken. She made a mistake and clipped a pole on the gate which spun her around and she crashed but would the leg have broken if the bindings released her boots from the skis as they are designed to do? Skiers intentionally set the bindings to not release under normal conditions so the bindings may have been purposely set to release at a much higher force which allowed the ski to remain attached to her left boot as she spun out of control and her left leg was broken. NOTE: This is partly conjecture as the bindings are not available to the author for testing. We send our bet thoughts to Lindsey with a note that this authors right leg was badly broken in three places in a ski accident in 1980. It was set by a very strong orthepedic surgeon who was strong enough to pull on the broken leg and maneuver an upside down piece upright and put it back in place and set the upper part of the tibis over the broken piece, drill two holes through the leg and insert pins to hold everything in place while it healed. I was exceedingly fortunate that it healed but it was doubteful that it would heal. It took eleven months in casts to heal and 45 plus years later it’s been a great leg. Meanwhile I’m seriously interested to find out more about Vonn’s break and hope her healing goes easy and fast. Lindsey has a winning warrior attitude but sadly it looks like her Olympic days are over but that’s up to Lindsey so we aren’t saying never to yet another comeback in the future.
