You could step on a tack. You could slip on a wet spot. Someone else could make off with your shoes. So forget about taking off your shoes and consider it extremely rude when you are asked to do it. Best thing to do is leave. Just go. If there are people there you don’t know, get out and away as fast as you can. It’s rude for a host to even ask you to remove your shoes. Even if you are on their boat, keep your Docksiders where they beling, on your feet.
