Mistakes can be forgiven because people are not omniscient so they make innocent mistakes. People have accidents but criminal behavior is neither an accident nor a mistake. There is no such thing as  criminal mistake. Criminals commit crimes. Criminals do not make criminal mistakes.

A criminal act is a crime, not a mistake. A crime is an evil act by an evil person. No one robs a store by mistake. A robbery is a set of evil behaviors and must not be forgiven. No one assaults someone by mistake. No one kills by mistake. Yes, we are all human but we are not all evil and most people, most individuals are good which is why in most cases it is just to forgive a mistake but the murder of Charlie Kirk was deliberate and therefore not a mistake. It requires not forgiveness which would be a massive injustice but punishment and perhaps the death penalty because the crime of murder is so severe. The murdered person, in this case Charlie Kirk, was more than just a good man. He was an example to others. His behavior was not only beyond reproach, it was an example of a good person. .
