Slavery began in Africa. African chiefs would sell captives to sea captains who transported the captives to world markets where they were sold. America did not exist then so America could not be responsible in any way, shape or form for slavery. It is wholly an African institution. Egypt had slaves. Moses led the Jews out of Egypt so slavery began in Africa, in Egypt according to the written record. In the West, migration from Asia brought slavery to the Western World. From the crossing of the Bering Strait, moving South and East all the way to Tiera del Fuego came the ancients with their captives who were forced to work. No America was in existence. Thousands of years and millions of people came through the great continent East of the Bering Strait, long before there was a thought about America. There was no need for America because there were so few people and those peole had no need of government because they were wholly self-sufficient. Unfortunately for the myth that slavery was part of the cause for the settlement of the vast continent, there were no people until some few migrated over the Bering Strait. No people means no slaves.
