It’s a land favored by nature. Nights so clear and days so sunny-bright that it’s a pleasure just to breathe the air… as long as the government will let you do that. Lately it’s been difficult so Putin invited the Afrikaners to Georgia and Trump invited them to America. It had to be done because of the danger of being murdered in the absolute pleasure to be alive South Africa. I was there for the first time in 1976. I returned and fell in love with South Africa and nearby Rhodesia, now called Zimbabwe. A friend had built two round rooms in Durban that were roofed with thatch that were an absolute delight to be in. Unfortunately, those halcyon days are over. South Africa has a wicked government that’s perhaps the most corrupt and murderous on the planet so people are leaving. Is it because of race? Partly but mostly because of the corrupt and murderous people who have gained control of the government. South Africa will rise again.. At least that’s my fervent hope. It’s a beautiful land and it deserves freedom but it has a ways to go before that can happen. All the best to my friends and allies in South Africa.
