In 1936, 88 years ago Zeiss, a lens manufacturer in Germany produced a folding camera that uses 120 size film and is capable of extremely good photographs. The lens is an 80mm f/2.8 Tessar which can get photographs in low light conditions. They are routinely available in the under $200 USD range and that’s an amazing bargain seeing as how a Hasselblad or a Rolleiflex can set you back $1,800 and up to $4,000. The Zeiss is not in the Hasselblad class by a long shot but don’t let that fool you into believing that the Zeiss cannot take fantastic photographs. The Zeiss is far more camera than most photographers need so you can expect fantastic photographs unless you simply aren’t capable of setting the f stop, the shutter speed and the distance.
