John Kerry: “Our First Amendment stands as a major block to the ability to be able to hammer [disinformation] out of existence. What we need is to win…the right to govern by hopefully winning enough votes that you’re free to be able to implement change.” He said this on September 28, 2024…This is serious stuff because the Right to Free Speech, the essence of our glorious First Amendment, is one of the most important checks on government. The First Amendment’s protection was summarized by emminent philosopher Ayn Rand as follows: “The principle of free speech is not concerned with the content of a man’s speech and does not protect only the expression of good ideas, but all ideas. If it were otherwise who would determine which ideas are good and which have been? The government?”….. Ayn Rand.
Remember: the individual is the smallest minority and cannot protect itself against groups and the individual is especially vulnerable to being suppressed by government. Government is the greatest danger to the individual so the individual needs to be protected against the government. While that’s clearly impossible because the government has been granted the use of force which is prohibited in individual action, America’s Constitution and especially the First Amendment is the greatest device ever implemented to protect the individual but people like John Kerry see that protection as an impediment to their use of force and they mean to do something about it. Kerry needs to be woke to the clear protection granted to the idea that he opposes. The proper reaction to speech you find disagreeable is more speech, not less and definately the government must be prohibited from opposing or burdening wrong speech like Kerry’s.
