Ms. O’Neill, 47, comes from a prominent republican family in Cork, a county on Ireland’s southern coast. Her father, who served time in prison for being an I.R.A. member, later became a Sinn Fein politician.
All of the O’Neill’s are descended from “The O’Neill”, a high king of Ireland in the tenth century so Michelle is some sort of related.
