They require massive amounts of lithium, cobalt, manganese, nickel, and graphite which are scarce material to make the batteries and it takes far too long to re-charge them for them to be useful on a long trip. America does not mine manganese or graphite. South Africa is the worlds leading supplier of manganese at 33%. Next is Australia, Gabon, China and Brazil. South Africa has announced that America is not their friend. China is an avowed enemy. Diesel Engines are far more efficient to power vehickes, boats and aircraft so why is the government helping electric car makers instead of dieselll car makers?
