What?? But reperations are to pay Black people for slavery,….. Right? Well, in a word, no…. Reparations are to pay money to someone who has been cheated. The bill for the reperations should be given to the people who benefitted from the cheating.. In the case of slavery that would be the ones who sold the slaves to the Dutch who brought them to the British Colonies and sold them. So the Dutch made some profit and the sellers in Africa made some profit and the users of the slaves, the people who bought them to use benefitted so reparations are seemingly needed to pay to the Black people who were sold, sold again and then used as slaves. The problem is all of the original sellers and users are long dead and their descendents didn’t benefit from the actual sales and usage. Another way to collect reparations is to get the payments from the descendents of the original sellers and users. Over time these entities have become so diluted as to be impossible to actually and directly connect them with the benefits of slavery.
