The default position for people is heterosexuality. Homosexuality is an aberation, a signal that something is wromg or went wrong. Dysphoria is a feeling, an uneasiness that something is amiss.
Sex and gender refer to the trait that determines whether a sexually reproducing organism produces male or female gametes. Male plants and animals produce small mobile gametes (spermatozoa), while females produce larger, non-motile ones often called egg cells.
