Yes, yes, it’s a political move and a political issue but those are sidebar points. The president has the obligation to appoint a candidate for the U.S. Supreme Court. The Senate has a say in who gets approved but both the Senate and the president have the duty, hence the obligation to appoint a successor to RBG. They can delay their actions. There is no time set nor a time limit for the president to appoint a replacement Supreme Court Justice.
