Trump says he’d ‘love to see’ Colin Kaepernick return to NFL….
Not beyond the realm of possibility because Kaepernick can play NFL football at a high level and the Eagles are one quarterback away from a disaster. Enter Colin Kaepernick.
It’s about winning and Kaep can win. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is begging to make a comeback in the NFL as evidenced by his recent workout video, and he kind of fits in perfectly with what the Eagles do on offense. He’s extremely athletic and can make plays with his feet, ideal for a team adept at RPO. People quickly forget the numbers that Kaepernick put up in his final season in the Bay: 16 TD, 4 INT, 90.7 rating.
Kaepernick also has a cannon for an arm. He can mimic the old Michael Vick flick of the wrist play. More importantly, he’s fresh — the 31-year-old hasn’t played a game in almost 900 days. Could he be a distraction? Yes. But if Nate Sudfeld and Cody Kessler are out for any length of time, it might be worth looking at Kaepernick’s 12,271 career passing yards and 72 touchdowns.
Kaepernick was once one of the most electrifying QBs in the league leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2013. In 2016, his final year, he posted 16 touchdowns to four interceptions on an abysmal team. He also fumbled seven times.
To not give Kaepernick a call just to see what he has left would be negligence, especially for a franchise as open-minded and socially conscious as the Eagles.
Nobody knows how Kaepernick will fare in today’s NFL. But he’s worth a shot because all the opposing rushing defenders want to hurt Wentz.
