America Needs the Best Women On Our Womans World Cup Soccer team.

Megan Rapinoe is a lesbian. Has been since when exactly we don’t know since sexual development is a continuous process and is partly genetic. Rapinoe is certain she’s lesbian. That’s good enough. She is now 33. We know for certain that Rapinoe came out as Lesbian, has a girlfriend and was almost married to another lesbian.

Her patriotism is the issue about her playing on a team that represents America. Rapinoe resents America. She garnered national attention for her disrespectful resentment by kneeling during the national anthem at an International match in September 2016, in an attempt to draw awareness to what she says is social inequality in the US, in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.

“Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear,” tweeted president Trump.

Are lesbians treated differently than non-lesbians? Yes. Certainly. For sure. Differences matter.

On September 4, 2016, during a game in Chicago against the Red Stars, Rapinoe, unpatriotically decided to kneel  during the national anthem as part of her persinal protest against America.

The national anthem is a song and an event that honors America. American LGBT’s are Americans. There are many protocol behaviors during the playing of the anthem. Rapinoe noted she was kneeling in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, the ex-San Francisco 49er quarterback who refused to stand during the anthem to protest what he called racial injustice and minority oppression. Rapinoe said at the time she planned to continue to kneel.  Later that week on September 7, the Washington Spirit uncharacteristically played the national anthem prior to the teams taking the field, indicating that they did not want to “subject our fans and friends to the disrespect we feel such an act would represent”. In an additional statement, the Spirit management said “to willingly allow anyone to hijack this tradition that means so much to millions of Americans and so many of our own fans for any cause would effectively be just as disrespectful as doing it ourselves.” Rapinoe expressed displeasure with this move saying “it was incredibly distasteful, four days before one of the worst tragedies in our country, to say I tried to hijack this event.”

She continued her protest on September 15, 2016 during the national team game against Thailand. U.S. Soccer then issued a statement saying: “Representing your country is a privilege and honor for any player or coach that is associated with U.S. Soccer’s National Teams. Therefore, our national anthem has particular significance for U.S. Soccer. In front of national and often global audiences, the playing of our national anthem is an opportunity for our Men’s and Women’s National Team players and coaches to reflect upon the liberties and freedom we all appreciate in this country. As part of the privilege to represent your country, we have an expectation that our players and coaches will stand and honor our flag while the national anthem is played.”  In addressing the issue, Rapinoe stated in an interview: “Using this blanketed patriotism as a defense against what the protest actually is was pretty cowardly,” and further stated she would probably never sing the national anthem again.

“Never stand again.” Very well. That’s her position which is against the position of most other Americans. Their behavior towards her behavior is generally against her behavior. Her position on a team that represents America when she resents certain behaviors becomes highly hypocritical. If she cannot fully represent America she needs to be fired or she should quit. The time for hypocricy about America is never.
