On April 20, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine massacre, a small number of teens around the country skipped classes as part of a National School Walkout to protest gun violence.
They proved their immaturity as well as their lack of a sense of America by getting so much so wrong. . . .They wrongly believe they are fighting for American Values but they don’t quite grasp the basic value that created America, …viz. freedom. Freedom has been under attack by Big Government types who prefer a highly regulated culture instead of a culture where individuals choose and decide for themselves which actions to take. It’s like buying a car to travel the ocean….Can’t be done. Boats, not cars, ….freedom not Big Brother…..But they are immature. In their later years they will come to possess the wisdom to support freedom for themselves and others… Later, not now; not yet.
Just like the March 24 March for Our Lives event planned by the Parkland teens, the teen walkout to remember lost friends has been taken over by liberal, adult-led, anti-gun, anti-Trump, Big Brother supporting, anti-freedom groups like Indivisible, linked to on the National School Walkout website and cited in NPR’s report.
“These student organizers have gotten help from a national nonprofit called Indivisible, a group that says it aims to ‘fuel’ young people to ‘resist the Trump agenda,’” NPR reported.
In the 1990s, the CDC looked into one of the more controversial questions in gun social science: How often do innocent Americans use guns in self-defense, and how does that compare to the harms guns can cause in the hands of violent criminals?
Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck conducted the most thorough previously known survey data on the question in the 1990s. His study, which has been harshly disputed in pro-gun-control quarters, indicated that there were more than 2.2 million such defensive uses of guns (DGUs) in America a year. That’s 2.2 millions Americans who are still free to defend themselves used a gun to do it.
