Why is he calling such attention to the worse angels within? He wears a bright pink cap, paints his fingernails and has pierced ears. Nothing subtle here. Does he do it to retain the exhilaration of being in the public eye?
Some people are shy, others brash. Some people are easily embarrassed by circumstances that would not trouble others. Some have an exaggerated concern about the impression they are making. It’s a sensitivity that underlies a number of the anxiety disorders, especially the social phobias. A pink hat on a man should be a public embarrassment but in the case of this troubled man, it isn’t.
Most people smile out of a personal feeling of embarrassment on behalf of a troubled person. While not a cause for concern, he’s not at all violent, just a bit off, people quickly leave so as not to continue their embarrassment. Compassion. Most people have it. “Pinky” however seems to enjoy his dysfunctional behavior.
This proves a good thing. The world is not full of people waiting to pounce if you make a mistake. There are not hordes of men and women who are examining you for any sign of weakness. Life is not terrible because we live in a hostile world. The fact is, no one is really paying any attention to him because most people have their own lives to live. they feel he should do the same.
