This is the kind of horse-hockey being produced by lying websites that blame great inventors for slavery. Here’s the direct quote from the website that will remain un-named because of their lying: “Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in 1793, a machine that quickly separated cotton fibers from their seeds. It transformed the American economy, though it also tragically increased the demand for enslaved labor..” This is probably based on the false assumption that picking cotton required slaves along with the second false assumption that slavery was part of the founding of America. Picking cotton required people. People are not slaves by birth and America fought a war that killed millions of white people to eliminate slavery. On the other hand the invention of a machine to make cotton profitable was done by a white man who along with countless other Americans improved the lot of slaves captured and sold by their black tribal chiefs in Africa. It was America that fought to eliminate slavery and it is mendacious to think otherwise. Thank God and America for eliminating slavery. In addition cotto cloth became so inexpensive that slaves could buy it and wear clothing made from it. No more ichy wool. Cotton improved the lives of everyone who used it which happened to be everybody. Eli Whitney deserves loads of gratitude for his invention so a belated Thank You Whitney!
