Putin want’s to add Ukraine to Russia to protect the borders of Russia. But taking Ukraine will merely shift Russia’s borders to the West of Ukraine and give Putin even more border problems, especially with Poland, and Romania because those countries are very pro-West and Anti-Russia. If Ukraine is occupied by Russia NATO will beef up the military presence in Poland and Romania. Russia is playing a dangerous and losing game with the West which has caused massive sanctions against Russia that will be increased if Putin occupies more of Ukraine. Of course it’s easy enough to stop Russia, just pay Ukraine to oppose Russia.
