A good friend passed away and years later I found out. We had travelled to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual meet in Oshkosh, Wisconsin but Don Miller was a boatbuilder and seller. He was perhaps the first person to grasp that a boat built in Taiwan could be sold for a lot less money than a boat built in America. He sold many, many boats. I was selling engines for boats. A boat engine cannot use air to cool it like a car or truck because the engine room is below the water line so it’s a bit more difficult to get enough cold air into the engine room to cool the engines so they are cooled with water. Don and I met in the boat industry and found out we loved airplanes too so we went to Oshkosh together. It was a great time. Both of us could take time away from the boat business to enjoy the airplanes and we certainly did. Buy a boat if you need a way to unwind from your daily grind. But an airplane for the same reason. There are other great uses for boats and planes both personal and commercial.
