Think! If you breathe into a mask then inhale, the micro-organisms will go right back into your lungs. There’s no place else for them to go. Some may get trapped in the mask where they will be available to be re-enter your lungs if they are dislodged. If you want to be safe around other people stay away from them. Or, at least stay far enough away from them that the particles they breathe into the air fall to the ground before you enter their space. If they breathe fine particles stay further away from them. If you breathe air into a mask fine particles will be trapped on the outside of the mask where you can touch them, get them onto your hands and them get them into you body in a number of ways, for example by rubbing your germ-laden fingers on your nose where you can then breathe them into your body. So… what to do… Simple. Keep far enough away from others so you do not inhale their exhalate. And keep washing your hands.
