Out, … out brief candle… Our Beloved Hunter Ray….. “Hunter”… Just completed his Chemical Engineering degree in Lubbock at Texas Tech after studying in Colorado and other places when tragedy struck and he died on Labor Day, September 6th, 2021.

Hunter was a smart, great looking, popular golden boy who became a golden man. He taught himself and became fluent in Spanish. He was recently hired by Inside Petroleum, a petroleum engineering company and had many great plans for his future when tragedy struck.

As a young man Hunter played ice hockey at a very high level. He enjoyed fine clothes, great tasting food, especially with hot sauce and was always well-dressed. He was quick to smile and made friends easily although he was content with his own company. He loved to read. He was a great conversationalist. He enjoyed and followed philosophy.  Played the guitar. He rode a Husqvarna motorcycle and rebuilt it. He learned to fly. It’s a cliché to say he had it all but he had a lot of it and was getting more each day.  A handsome, well-built, healthy, happy, well-rounded young man. We loved him… We simply loved him… Words cannot convey our grief at his death.

Hunter had visited Allentown over the 2020 Christmas holidays and left his pick-up to be sold by his mom; briefly returned to Texas Tech then to a short vacation at fantastic Puerto Vallarta on the coast of Mexico with the lovely Perla, then on to the very beautiful town of Medellin in Colombia where he worked and then we were informed he had passed away.  We are shocked and saddened beyond belief. The autopsy revealed a heart attack but there was foul play.

Our very dear Hunter was an avid reader and almost always had a book in hand or at least nearby. Hunter and his family had much in common and together they loved… Together they shared favorite songs, podcasts, quotes, and stories of accomplishments and wonder. Hunter could accomplish anything he set his mind to and was a very focused, driven person. We, his family will forever miss his easy smile, his charisma, intellect, diplomacy and illuminating presence. He was the epitome of a loving son and brother and graced our world with brilliance and love. His trademark look was a smile.

Hunter lived 28 years, one month and five days, a total of 9,901 days. He witnessed seven leap years. Would that it was many more. Devastated but surviving in addition to his mother, Terree, are his two sisters. Autumn M. Hassett, her husband Colin and their son Wright of Falmouth, MA, and sister Sequoya K. Schofield, her husband Tom and their son Alexander of Woodstown NJ; his proud grandparents, William and Janet O’Neill of Holland, PA; Uncle Chris O’Neill, Aunt Cate O’Neill, Cousins, Roark O’Neill and Zach O’Neill, Aunt Traci O’Neill, Uncle Milan Koprivica, cousins Aidyn and Bryn, Aunt Mare (Yeagle) Kremser, Aunt Kim (Yeagle) Soley, Uncle Phil Soley, cousins Jessica and Abby, Grand Aunt and Grand Uncle Carol and Frank O’Neill of Decatur, AL who were visited by Hunter on his way back to Texas from his last visit to Pennsylvania.
