Like flashes of lightening and bangs of thunder before a storm, demonstrations against a new gas station, the creation of a new intersection, more driveways, a new red light have given rise to yet another round of talk to the local government. A demonstration is similar to the trash talk before the play in football. Yes, demonstrations can be effective but they can and do fail more than they succeed because unlike football, a demonstration; a protest needs to cause something to happen. In football, the trash talking must stop and the game must go on. So far; in Holland; the talk continues and hasn’t been effective. How can it be? The talkers have done nothing to continue the game. They cannot because a demonstration is an admission of that’s it.
