That’s why it’s called “Election Day“. It’s not “Vote Counting Day.” There is no such thing in American Law called “Vote Counting Time” or anything related to that idea. Election Day was established by The Presidential Election Day Act of Congress on January 23, 1845, as the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November was designated Election Day for future presidential elections. Notice that it is called “DAY”… It’s a Tuesday. Tuesday is one day of the week. If the Votes aren’t counted on Election Day, a Tuesday, then they aren’t able to be added to the cotes that are counted on Election DAY….. This is clear stuff. Day is one day. Trump was correct to call for all of the votes to be counted by Tuesday Night, Election Day. Any and all votes not counted on Election Day cannot be counted.

The Tuesday next after the 1st Monday in November, in every even numbered year, is established as the day for the election, in each of the States and Territories of the United States, of Representatives and Delegates to the Congress commencing on the 3d day of January next thereafter.
