A city in Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. Far away and a nice place. About $1,400 round trip to fly there from Philly.
The earliest settlements date back to 8000–7000 BC, in the Mesolithic period.
Here’s the railroad station…

It’s also known as Yekaterinburg
It is remarkably rich in minerals, including iron ore from Kachkana, Nizhny Tagil, Kushva, and elsewhere; manganese at Ivdel; cobalt, nickel, tungsten, and vanadium near Yekaterinburg; bauxite at Severouralsk; and beryllium near Asbest. One of the largest asbestos deposits in Russia occurs at Asbest, and copper, platinum, and gold are widely distributed. Coal and lignite are scarce, and the oblast lacks fuel, importing coal from the Kuznetsk Basin and natural gas from Tyumen oblast. Is it worth the trip?
I’d go in a heartbeat so Yes.. It will surprise you how similar it is to life in Philly.
