It absolutely has real life consequences when children are successful at math but a lot of lower intelligent children cannot do math. It’s not their fault that the intellectual capabilities to do math are lacking but pandering to the lack of ability by labeling it as caused by racism is worse than a simple mistake. It’s a lie and it’s a lie that will set them up for more failure. Arithmetic is math but math is far more than arithmetic. Almost anyone can be taught to do arithmetic but only a few people can do higher math such as Trigonometry and Calculus. Those subjects can be learned by perhaps half of High School Students. The others just can’t do it. They don’t have the intellect to learn Trig or Calc. It’s like only a few students can play sports for their high school. Fewer still can go on to a professional sports career. It’s a safe bet that most players in the NFL cannot do calculus. But the worst thing is to lie to everyone else and claim it’s because of racism. Everyone loses when a lie is the basis for education.
