The Eagles are on fire, … well not that bright after beating The Saints in a game that they had won but almost lost. New Orleans missed two easy field goals which would have given them the win so New Orleans beat themselves. The Eagles have just about forgotten about Zach Ertz.. Bad, bad move.
Yes, Jalen Hurts had a stupendous game but New Orleans didn’t have time to figure him out. The Cardinals have the film of the game and a week to figure out how to defend against Hurts running so his running game will be stifled and perhaps even shut down. There goes the Eagles advantage. The Cardinals are favored by 6 1/2 points. That’s reasonable but Philly still has Wentz who is a better quarterback than Hurts. The Cardinals are also ready for Wentz so Pederson wisely announced Hurts will start for the Eagles. That doesn’t mean Hurts will finish. If he’s as hot against the Cardinals as he was against New Orleans and if the defense can play well enough to stop the Cardinals like they stopped the Saints the Eagles can win. If Hurts doesn’t do all that great then Pederson can go to Wentz who is a great quarterback and better than Hurts.
With that option Pederson can coach another win for Philly against the Cardinals who seem to be a better team but Philly can beat the Cardinals.
This is a sleeper game. This late in the season Pederson wins if the Eagles lose because he gets a better position in the draft. If the Eagles win against the odds Pederson has a better chance of winning the remaining two games against Dallas and Washington and winding up with an OK year. Hurts and Wentz are great quarterbacks. Pederson is born to win. Hurts is a nice surprise and great news for Philly.
