A Riot is not a protest. Protests consist of protesting, display of signs. walking, and other peaceful activity to bring attention to wrongs or to support right things. Riots are a different way to bring attention to things but the problem with a riot is the rioting. Riots typically involve destruction of property, public or private. The use of tear gas to disrupt a riot is mitigated by the use of water or milk and masks and face shields.
