The Berghof was Adolf Hitler‘s home in the Obersalzberg of the Bavarian Alps near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany. It was on a mountaintop that could be reached by any aircraft in World War II. How smart was that? A small plane with a little bomb could easily have been dropped right on top of the Berghof. Why that wasn’t done is probably because of insuffucuent intelligence that showed when Hitler was there.
Today it’s called the Kempinski Hotel in Berchtesgaden.
This is an extremelly beautiful area. Unfortunately it’s over run with tourists. Everything is far too crowded to have a nice visit. It’s far too annoying.
