Ayn Rand wrote it 80 years ago. Hatred of the good for being good means hatred of a person for possessing a value or virtue one regards as desirable. “The Left detests Trump for a lot of reasons besides winning the 2016 election and aborting the progressive project. But mostly they hate his guts because he is trying and often succeeding to restore a conservative America at a time when his opponents thought that the mere idea was not just impossible but unhinged.” So writes Victor Hanson about why people hate president Trump. A far stronger case could be made that it is Hillary Clinton who is clinically delusional.

Liberals who hate Trump should note this. “What is the nature of a creature in which the sight of a value arouses hatred and the desire to destroy? In the most profound sense of the term, such a creature is a killer, not a physical, but a metaphysical one—it is not an enemy of your values, but of all values, it is an enemy of anything that enables men to survive, it is an enemy of life as such and of everything living.”

In her book: For the New Intellectual you can read Ayn Rand’s manifesto on the fundamental clash between producers like president Trump and his enemies, the Left, the Liberals, and the Progressives in Western civilization, the philosophical ideas responsible for this conflict, and the full, complete and correct philosophy necessary to lead Western civilization to new heights. Donald Trump is that leader.

When Donald Trump ran on a platform of making America great again, what he actually intended was to renew the industry and economy of the heartland, to diminish crony capitalism, and to reduce the opportunity to grow rich at the expense of the American people and our allies.

Here’s Rand on those who hate success: “They do not want to own your fortune, they want you to lose it; they do not want to succeed, they want you to fail; they do not want to live, they want you to die; they desire nothing, they hate existence, and they keep running, each trying not to learn that the object of his hatred is himself . . . . They are the essence of evil, they, those anti-living objects who seek, by devouring the world, to fill the selfless zero of their soul. It is not your wealth that they’re after. Theirs is a conspiracy against the mind, which means: against life and man.”…. Ayn Rand
