Look. Religion is nothing to joke about. Of course it’s massively false but it’s probably the most serious topic in which most people will ever engage and to make the solemn space into an amusement ride is very harmful in instilling the proper respect for religion. The Right Reverend Dr Gavin Ashenden, former chaplain to the Queen, criticized the Cathedral for making a “mockery” of God.

Religion, indeed the idea of God led to the development of a set of Mystical Views about the supernatural origin, working and purpose of the universe and what that means to human life. But religion by itself is false and it has destroyed in the greatest ways imaginable and it cannot deny that for it is against first of the means of life which is reason, in order to transcend the place of life which is this earth for the purpose denying the purpose of life which is to be happy here and now. Given this it cannot have failed to have accomplished what it has.

It has preempted whole areas of thought which are concerned with the bringing of thought to the application of action in particularly the field of morality which it has preempted and turned against life itself. Religion has taken the most glorious concepts of a rational morality such as for example:  exaltation; worship; reverence;  sacred;

And it has not only removed them from our lives but it has actually removed them from this earth taken them up into the sky and turned them into moral thunderbolts to be launched back down on us and to incinerate us in our efforts to live life.

It has taken the concept of ultimate value beyond this earth and has used it to diminish and demean everything that is here.

It has taken human life that is potentially challenging, productive, successful, tall; joyous proud and it has turned it into an anxiety ridden torture. It has turned it into a denial of ourselves in which we crawl in obedience and fear and seek relief from all of this by denouncing everything which we are and everything which have. Keeping mans estimate of himself low by primarily for example by advocating humility and selflessness and damning pride the crown of all virtues. It has created a people who desire tyrants and tyrants who desire people. It has created power lust which as Ayn Rand said is a weed that grows in the vacant lot of an abandoned mind.

None of this is humorous. None of this is Funny. None of this is FUN. Those are the reasons the installation of an amusement ride inside a religious institution is one of the worst uses of the cathedral and it is to be condemned by right thinking people from all over the earth.
