Like Australia, the New World as it was called back in 1608 was where England sent white slaves. Facts are scant and estimates vary but up to 66% of the white people sent to the New World were sent in chains as slaves. They were chained and called “indentured servants” so when a black skinned congresswoman celebrates only black people and says: quote:

“Every February, we celebrate Black History Month.

“But this year is particularly meaningful, as we mark the 400th year since the first African slaves arrived on the shores of America.

“Families were separated, children were taken from their parents, and they entered into lives of bondage and unspeakable cruelty.

“From this painful history, African Americans have risen – to lead our nation, transform music and art, pioneer new inventions, and speak as the conscience of this country.

“I stand on the shoulders of Black leaders who spoke truth to power.

Fair enough and true but it neglects a far larger point and perhaps even more important point since it involves far more people.

America’s dirty little secret isn’t racism but classism. While pouncing incessantly on racial themes, most major media are silent about America’s widening class rifts, a problem that negatively affects more people of all colors than does racism. With an unmatched ability for rubbing salt in cultural wounds, author Jim Goad deftly dismantles most popular American notions about race and culture and takes a sledgehammer to our delicate glass-blown popular conceptions of government, religion, media, and history. White people were slaves too. Whites unfortunately have been white-washed from the founding stories to not only their detriment but to the detriment of everyone because those who are ignorant of history will be hurt thereby.

Want an example? Black pride is celebrated. White pride is condemned.

How about one more? White Supremacy is a myth. Well, actually Orientals and Ashkanazi Jews are superior to whites but white people are smarter than some other groups. Just be careful not to apply the supremacy  label to individuals who can be very different than the stereotypes.

England referred to indentured servants as “chattels” and as such became the property of their new owner/master.

The first chattels (slaves) in Colonial America were white Europeans. A majority initially consisted of convicts from England and then a surge of Irish Catholics were “spirited away” to make room in Ireland for the burgeoning British and Scottish Protestant populations. Two days after the American Revolutionary War began the trafficking of white human cargo ended. King George III eventually settled at sending his miscreants and convicts to Australia and New Zealand, circa 1820.

Public education in the USA sanitized this cruel chapter in its pernicious beginnings. It’s too bad — as we generally learn from our past. But when history is whitewashed, (no pun intended), then no one is the wiser. As the saying goes, “ignorance is bliss”..
