He’s still at it. After all these years. After Tawana Brawley, After President Obama, the hate inside Al Sharpton still energizes his run-on mouth to spit lies. He’s after President Trump. He’s living color proof racism is so over.
Remember his outrageous comments about Tawana? Sharpton’s former aide Perry McKinnon said that Sharpton, Maddox, and Mason were unconcerned with Brawley and were using the case to “tak[e] over the town,” as he had heard Sharpton say that the case could make him and Brawley’s other two advisers “the biggest niggers in New York”. In June 1988, at the height of the controversy surrounding the case, a poll showed a gap of 34 percentage points between blacks (51%) and whites (85%) on the question of whether Brawley was lying.
Sharpton is about lying. Sharpton originated FAKE NEWS. Al Sharpton said President Donald Trump’s supporters are like people who “would go to church and then go to the lynching after clothing themselves in morality.” Thing is Baptist Reverend Al is difficult to catch in a church.
Sharpton said to an audience at Kean College in New Jersey in 1994: “White folks was in the caves while we was building empires,” he said. “We built pyramids before Donald Trump even knew what architecture was. We taught philosophy and astrology [sic] and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it. Do some cracker come and tell you, ‘Well my mother and father blood go back to the Mayflower,’ you better hold your pocket. That ain’t nothing to be proud of, that means their forefathers was crooks.”
Sharpton derided moderate black politicians close to the Democratic Party as “cocktail sip Negroes” or “yellow niggers.” He belongs on SNL where jokes are their business. They’re Sharpton’s too.
But Al proves why we support and protect free Speech. It keeps us in touch with the meager minds of the culture. His critics describe him as “a political radical who is to blame, in part, for the deterioration of race relations”. Sociologist Orlando Patterson has referred to him as a racial arsonist. America needs people like Sharpton to remind us the truth matters and that comedians pop up in the strangest places.
