Let’s pause to remember John McCain flew Navy jets onto aircraft carriers, a harrowing job that requires the highest levels of flying skills and immense courage. His all too human foibles pale in the face of that kind of courage. Senator McCain developed brain cancer and he’s decided to cancel further treatment. More courage. He was born August 29, 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone. In five days he will enter his 83rd year of life.
Mitt Romney, the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee, said on Twitter, “No man this century better exemplifies honor, patriotism, service, sacrifice and country first than Senator John McCain. His heroism inspires, his life shapes our character.”
We wish him and his family well.
