All the talk about gun control never mentions the American idea of personal Liberty. Guns are dangerous but so are many other things and people. Military for example are trained in death to others. Kitchen knives as well as hunting knives and machetes can easily kill others. Even poisons that are available in so many places can kill. Arson is still a popular procedure that can kill a lot of people if it’s at a hotel or in some other public building.
What about bad ideas like Socialism or dictatorships when objectors are arrested and killed? Mass murder of white people in Southern Africa is killing far more people than the guns in the hands of nut-jobs. A semi-auto gun, pistol or rifle are being demonized by the people who prefer a dictator to a free culture.
